On Being a PHysician-Led Organization
What does it mean to be a physician-led organization? It means that we not only value physicians’ input, but we welcome it and rely on their guidance when steering a course for the future.
Physicians are encouraged to work with local hospital administrations in their facility’s decision-making process. In short, physicians not only have a seat at the leadership table, they sometimes even sit at the head of that table.
Shaheed Koury, MD
Chief Medical Officer and President, Clinical Operations
Dr. Koury oversees quality, safety, nursing, ancillary services, medical affairs and case management for the organization. As such, he works closely with hospital-based physicians, physician practices and clinical informatics.
Part of Quorum Health from it’s inception in May 2016, he previously he served as vice president of Quality and Clinical Transformation at Community Health Systems where he led medical staff high-reliability efforts and the education, assessment and implementation of physician alignment models including Clinical Integrated Networks (CINs) and ACOs for various markets. He also served as medical advisor for the emergency medicine service line.
Dr. Koury is a board-certified emergency physician who has worked clinically for 20 years.
