Shaheed Koury, MD,

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Koury joined Quorum Health in May 2016 as the Chief Medical Officer and is currently Chief Medical Officer and President, Clinical Operations. In this role he oversees quality, safety, nursing, ancillary services, medical affairs and case management. He works closely with hospital-based physicians, physician practices and clinical informatics. Previously he served as vice president of Quality and Clinical Transformation at Community Health Systems where he led medical staff high-reliability efforts and the education, assessment and implementation of physician alignment models including Clinical Integrated Networks (CIN’s) and ACOs for various markets. He also served as medical advisor for the emergency medicine service line.

Dr. Koury is a board-certified emergency physician who has worked clinically for 20 years, most recently in the Fort Wayne, IN market. Prior to that he practiced in Cincinnati and was also an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Koury received his medical degree at the University of Kentucky. He completed an emergency medicine residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He earned his MBA with a focus in Health Care Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in Fort Wayne, IN. He has written and published several papers in the health care field and presented at several national meetings. While he was part of the faculty at the University of Kentucky, he received the Golden Apple Teacher of the year award and received the honor of best emergency physician in the Fort Wayne network.
